Circular Countryside Walk

The route is approximately 3.6 miles or 5.891 kilometres long and should take approximately 1 and half hours to complete on foot by an able bodied person. The walk begins and finishes at the High Wych Scout Hut

Walking Conditions under foot
The entire walking route is within the confines of surfaced Lanes.
This makes it especially good for all types of walkers, cyclists and disabled persons alike.

Safety
The Lanes portrayed are not heavily used by road vehicles, however, due cognizance should be taken of the “Pedestrian Country Code Section of the Highway Code” 
It should also be noted that the Lanes are quite narrow and do not have pavements.


Things to look for on the route
 
On leaving the scout hut you travel west wards, passing Bakers Farm House on your left with the southern boundary of the Manor of Groves Golf and Country Club on your right.
Once you have travelled approximately 655 yards or 589 metres you will pass a Lane on your right hand side.
Once you have passed the Lane, you will travel for a further 426 yards or 390 metres passing a few houses on either side of the Lane. You will then arrive at a fork in the Lane. Take the left fork. (Note: You will be returning to this point on your return journey, but from a different direction)

From this point you are totally surrounded by the countryside.

You travel for approximately 872 yards or 797 metres when you arrive at a junction. Follow the Lane round to your right.

At this point your journey turns due north, passing Acton’s Farm on your right approximately 849 yards or 776 metres away.

On leaving Acton’s Farm the Lane continues on a northerly direction gradually turning eastwards. This stretch of your journey is approximately 1710 yards or 1564 metres, during which time you will see plenty of horses in fields to your right with farm land to your left.
On reaching the bottom of Gangies Hill in the east, take the right hand Lane southwards with the Manor of Groves Golf course on your left.
Travel for approximately 725 yards or 664 metres when you reach a fork in the Lane, take the left fork, returning east wards along the Lane, for approximately 1081 yards or 979 metres, finishing back at the Scout Hut.
