MATTERS ARISING:

Members met at the Lock Keeper’s Cottage, Sheering Mill Lane to walk to Pishiobury Park in order to look at the black poplar trees which were planted three years ago.  Clive Atkins had previously visited the area and marked where the trees were and waist high vegetation had to be fought through to find these.  It was discovered that four of the six trees had survived and looked healthy.  Clive Atkins informed members that the Countryside Management Service will be clearing the vegetation in this area on 22nd August and volunteers are needed to help with this task.

DATE OF NEXT MEETING:

On Wednesday 22nd August a team of volunteers from Countryside Management Service will be coming to Pishiobury Park with cutting equipment to clear the vegetation in the meadow where the black poplar trees have been planted and have requested volunteers from the Stort Valley group to help rake up the cut material.  The meeting place is the gate into Pishiobury Park meadow at the bottom of Springhall Lane at 10am.  Volunteers to wear suitable footwear and clothing and to bring gloves and raking equipment if they have it although some will be provided.  A meeting of the group will be held at 1pm when there will be a break for lunch (please bring your own lunch).  This activity is not suitable for children under 10 years of age.  For any further information please contact Warren Richards 723347.
