MATTERS ARISING:
Correspondence
Warren had contacted East Herts
regarding a permeable surface on car parks who agreed this was good
practice and would follow it up. Suggestion from Ted that 6”
holes could be drilled in car park surfaces and then filled with
pebbles for drainage. It is important that the aquafers are refilled.
Warren had attended an East Herts Executive meeting regarding Stansted
expansion. Many recommendations were made and report available to read.
Sawbridgeworth Brook. To
watch the area near the brook where building is taking place on London
Road. Fencing is to be erected along the side of the brook. Trees will
also be replaced along the Brook Road side.
Tourism initiative.
There had been a lack of communication between Town
Council, East Herts and tourism group regarding signage and therefore
duplication of effort. Letter from East Herts on file suggesting way
forward. Tourism signage group do not have a further meeting planned.
Community Voice. Considered
that a longer evening was required from7.30pm – 9.30pm to allow
question time. All speakers time slots should be strictly adhered to.
Other ideas for discussion at Community Voice were:
Entrance criteria for Leventhorpe School
Transport.
Harlow North.
Recent meeting but no further information.
Tourism.
Nothing further to report.
AGENDA ITEMS
Transport
Replacement needed for Ted.
Kecksys.
Planning now agreed for a marina, caravan park and bungalow.
Plans for the future.
To look at the piece of land which was purchased in Pishiobury Park and suggest ideas for its use.
Further use of the valuable resource of Pishiobury Park.
The group needs to be aware of any environmental issues which arise so they can be effectively dealt with.
Allotments.
A grant has been awarded to Southbrook
allotment holders to set up an Allotment Society. A shed is to be
erected which incorporates solar panels to power the lighting system,
power point and a fridge. Warren is working on the costing of this.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING:
The next
meeting will be held in the Hailey Day Centre Thursday 19th October 2006 8pm
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
Ted thanked everybody for their cards and good wishes on he and Alice leaving the area.
Ted then reported:
There are overhanging trees in the
garden of Fair Green Lodge on the corner of Fair Green which are
obstructing signs and lights. These had been cut back some years ago.
There are a number of road signs which have been turned to face the
wrong way in the town. This comes under Highways Department and to
write to Town Council first.
A tree at the junction of Fairway and Vantorts Road had been sawn up by East Herts workmen and then left on the grass.
Information on a Biffa Award which had funded a town sign. Information passed to Warren.
Air quality is to be discussed at Town Council meeting on 25th September at 7pm.
Suggestion of looking at a one way system down Sheering Mill
Lane. Suggestion of a zebra crossing at the junction of Sheering Mill
Lane and Vantorts Road but this is not possible at a road junction.
Prim reported that shrubs and trees which had been planted near the
Hailey Day Centre were now dying through lack of maintenance. Informed
that this area comes within the car park section of East Herts.
