SVP WORKING MEETING 6TH MARCH 03
Present and Apologies. As above.
Acceptance of Previous Minutes. The mins of 6th February we accepted as a true record.
MATTERS ARISING.
Esbie Estate. The Sec read out the letters from EHDC in response to our letters. Members wished our concerns be passed to a wider audience and asked the matter to be raised with the Environment Agency and our MP.
Community Strategy. Members wished to thank David T for his report on the opening meeting.
The Area Forum. Date of the next meeting is the 27th March at Furneux Pelham and the new Community Strategy meeting is on 7th April at 7.30pm Reedings School.
Grants. John R explained the grant of £250 from HCC would allow us to train with the Biological Records Office (BRO) at Tring to learn how to do formal surveys. There will be places for 10 people to attend. The Sec said he had supplied additional information including description and map of walks project to the Rotary.
Footpath Working Party. The W/P recommended that 5 interlocking walks should be promoted with a coloured leaflet and 3 notice boards along the Stort. Members volunteered to 'walk the walks' and provide commentaries. These will be tested by independent members in the future.
Fair Green. The campaign to improve pedestrian access into Fair Green South continues. The road calming in Fairway has been modified and seems to have taken a major portion of 8 weeks allocated to the project for the whole of Brook Road/Vantorts. It was said on good authority that the culvert carrying Sawbridgeworth Brook under Brook Road is collapsing and will take precedence over traffic calming.
Members were very unhappy with the progress of this traffic calming and asked that our local MP be informed of the level of incompetence involved.
AGENDA.
Community Strategy (ComS). The first meeting of the ComS brought together half a dozen groups of like-minded people to consider the needs of Sawbridgeworth. The Environmental Group was only represented by SVP members, David T was our facilitator and a wide range of subjects was covered for consideration by the Strategy. Members wished to thank David T for targeting our thoughts at this meeting. John R tabled additional copies of the questionnaire for members to complete who were unable to attend the meeting.
Public Open Spaces. Members were asked to list spaces in their area they considered public open space so we can get them itemised in the community plan.
Living Streets. Hazel M has received the working pack and with two other ladies who were interested at the ComS will come up with some proposals. Hazel's letter to the Town Council has been passed to EHDC.
Kekseys. As Michael Brown was not present we did not progress this item however Monya B and Jacquie D are walking this area and will have a look.
AGM.
Members were reminded that the next meeting will be our AGM and any members wishing to serve on the committee should inform the Sec on 01279 723347.
